ISSUE 6 IS NOT A TAX INCREASE BUT A RENEWAL.
THE ¼% APPLIES ONLY TO EARNED INCOME FOR PEOPLE WHO WORK OR LIVE IN DAYTON.
IT WILL NOT TAX SOCIAL SECURITY, PENSIONS, 401K’S, IRA’S, INTEREST, RETIREMENT, INVESTMENT INCOME, OR UNEMPLOYMENT.
MORE THAN HALF WILL BE PAID BY COMMUTERS– THOSE WHO LIVE OUTSIDE DAYTON, BUT WORK HERE AND USE CITY SERVICES.
DAYTON RESIDENTS WHO WORK IN OTHER CITIES RECEIVE A TAX CREDIT FROM DAYTON.
The renewal maintains a full (2.5%) credit for Dayton residents who pay earned income taxes to other cities.
VOTE FOR ISSUE 6
Dayton has made a great deal of progress since 2016, and a renewal of the City’s ¼% earned income tax – Issue 6 – will provide the resources necessary for continuous investments in our neighborhoods, including:
Keeping high-quality emergency medical response and fire protection.
Continuing neighborhood safety with community-responsive policing
Addressing needed repairs, repaving, and maintenance of residential roads.
Providing affordable, quality preschool for Dayton 3- and 4-year-olds.
Providing housing services/investments throughout the city.
Keeping city parks and lots mowed and well maintained.
WITHOUT ISSUE 6,
DAYTON FACES MASSIVE CUTS TO SAFETY AND OTHER VITAL CITY SERVICES. ISSUE 6 DOES NOT INCREASE TAXES. IT PROTECTS DAYTON’S FUTURE – KEEPING OUR VITAL CITY SERVICES STRONG, ENSURING EQUITY AMONGST ALL CITY NEIGHBORHOODS, AND MAINTAINING OUR CITY’S PROGRESS.
